17th July at 10:00, the sports group went to the local public swimming pool to take part in one of the branches linked to our European project. Our sport project was made with both participants from the International Youth Summer Camp, 2 Maltese, 3 French and 2 Portuguese and the senior people from the local social centre organised with one of the partners of our subject the local council of Óbidos.
It took about 8Km to arrive and it was a hot day. We get in and we prepared ourselves to the water exercises. There was a teacher and the group of 10 senior people. The exercises where based on games and not swimming lessons. The groups were mixed between young people and old generations.
The Maltese group start up with an idea of doing a game and singing the international Maltese Rhyme called ´Dawra Durella`, they circled and held hands and turned circular motion and singing. As so did the other two European nations which make a very good start for everyone and help the group to come more integrated.
Its true that at first the sports group felt at first a little bit confused because it was their first time combining each other the movements and the agility between different generations. Time passed and I took a glimpse seeing that the group was having fun. The exercises where mixed, working body, mind and stability. The group where hosted with translation for those who did not keep in track. The disposition was very good and friendly. The senior people were very happy and the youngsters very pleased and respectful. It was very emotional all the group.
These activities are interesting for all ages because they may come to help, they communicate and even learn from each other.
